Information Reports

For the past week we have been writing information reports about coal.

In groups we were given a topic about coal and created a brainstorm for other groups to use.

Once the information was collected we made a plan about what we wanted in our report.
We had to then write up our report using the Success Criteria we made.

A successful report will have …..
-      Main Heading (Coal)
-      Introduction (What is Coal?)
-      3 Topic Paragraphs (Mining, History, Types etc.)
-      Conclusion (Re-cap main points of coal)
-      Sentences that make sense (Read your work aloud)
-      Writing in our own words (What does this information mean?)

How to Write An Argument
Chose something that you believe strongly about for your topic.

Eg. Animals should not be used for testing

Chose if you are for or against the topic

Write an introduction for an example:

I strongly believe animal testing should be illegal.

The next part is called the body of your Argument.

You need 3 or more strong points and reasons why you think it should stop or keep going for an example:

Animal testing can kill animals.  This is because the chemicals in the experiments poisons animals making them ill, causing them to have an early death. Animal testing must be stopped.

Try to keep the detail short and sharp and to the point.

Choose a recommendation ending, for an example:

Have feelings for the animals and stop animal testing today!
